Mature Electric Coupé
Renault Trezor Concept

Concept cars are always made to showcase the latest automotive technology, as well as the future design direction of different automakers. Renault has just announced their two-seater electric coupé “Trezor”, which reflects its maturity of design.

This electric coupé shares similar styling with Renault’s contemporary range, which has signature simple, sensual lines and C-shaped lighting. Hexagonal panels on the front, side and rear, together with the honeycomb-form air intake on the bonnet, enhance the dynamism of the car. The fibre-optic rear lighting is integrated with red lasers, which increase the intensity of light while braking by torsion and stacking of the optical fibres, creating an interesting visual effect. Its one-piece clamshell roof lifts like the lid of a jewellery box, and as the car comes without doors, occupants would need to straddle the side to enter, just like classic racing cars. Renault believes this makes the drivers feeling as one with the machine.

The interior is dominated by red, and is made of high-quality materials including wood and leather, with top-notch craftsmanship and technology. In front of the dashboard there are two luxury made-to-measure cases held in position by leather straps in the luggage compartments. The two batteries at the front and the rear have separate cooling systems and a brake-operated energy recovery system.

The Trezor’s power is delivered to the road via a rear-wheel-drive driveline, and its low centre of gravity provides greater stability. A large proportion of the chassis is made of carbon which reduces the weight, thus increased the range and performance of the batteries. Its “Multi-sense” system offers three driving modes; “Neutral”, “Sport” and “Autonomous”. Under the Autonomous mode the exterior lighting will change accordingly to call attention to other road users.
