Mention a red double-decker bus, and almost anyone would instantly think of London. After serving the city for fifty years, the English-made classic AEC Routemaster is one of the key symbols of the British capital. LEGO has brought back this icon, first produced in the 1950s, with the Creator Expert London Bus (#10258).

The iconic red streamlined body is matched with a panoramic windshield and specially made standard-tread tires. The layout of the bus is different from the modern one, with just one passenger door at the rear and a half-spiral staircase that leads to the upper deck. The bus features an array of authentic details including a ticket bin, fire extinguisher, an opening hood with engine, a forgotten umbrella, newspapers and an empty beverage can. The letters “MGW” on the licence plate is the initials of the designer Morten Griff-Wang. Reversible transit advertising posters are also provided with a 1950s ad or present-day London promotion with Union Jack.

Creator Expert London Bus (#10258) will be launched in the Animation-Comic-Game Hong Kong on July 28 and in LEGO Certified Stores on August 1.
