Keita Onishi
A sense of harmony between what is heard and what is seen.

The combination of music and imagery directly influences our audio-visual experience, where the stimulation travels from our eyes to our ears in a circulated manner.

Netherlands-based composer Julien Mier who specializes in the making of electronic music has collaborated with Japanese music producer Magical Mistakes for creating the single “Divide, Multiply”, a piece that offers vast space for imagination through its composition of using the bass and percussions. Accompanied with an impactful music video that deserves much credit, this synchronized black and white animation was created by Keita Onishi who is a Japanese visual producer, installation artist and animator.

Keita was born in Kamkura city in 1980 and specializes in the production of video and sound installation. With a consistent style found throughout his works, he always condense the melodies onto a beating animation in order to seek for a sense of harmony between what is heard and what is seen. Having previously created an animation using “Time Remap” as its theme for TECHNE, a science show aired on Japanese television station NHK, the video illustrates a series of moving objects falling onto the intricate sounds in daily experienced forms such as a line of dominoes, a falling piece of porcelain and a wine glass being poured into with white wine, which depicts and creates a strong unique ensemble.
