Holographic Turntable
Kozmophone by Arcateliers

Vinyl records have been coming back with a vengeance in recent years and we’ve seen a big increase in manufacturers of all sorts producing turntables. Besides the established audio visual brands, startups and independent companies are also getting into the competitive market with innovative concepts. Like the Kozmophone record player developed by Chicago-based startup Arcateliers with the slogan “A Classic Reimagined”, its speaker looks like an old phonograph as invented by Thomas Edison and features a holographic display.

Even though it has a retro look, the Kozmophone’s speaker rotates a full 360 degrees. The record player is Bluetooth enabled, so it can also be used for playing music off the phone or tablet. The biggest novelty, though, is the holographic display inside the main cylinder housing. The display will follow the tempo of the music and an extensive range of holograms will be available for download, including flying music notes, a drummer and a ballet dancer.

The project is seeking backers on Kickstarter and if things go well, the Kozmophone will be available in mid-2018. The Arcateliers team will also update the development progress from time to time, revealing more on the interaction between music and hologram on the Kozmophone.
