Vulcan Innova has introduced the VI52, a carefully crafted watch winder that accommodates up to six fine timepieces. Rather than a common box-like watch winder, the VI52 uses a BMW M52 engine block commonly found in the BMW M3.

Vulcan Innova is the first company to turn an inline six engine into a watch winder. The VI52’s re-engineered and retrofitted piston construction allows for a very instinctive display of timepieces in several different configurations. Since each engine block is unique from wear and tear of its service life, with each block then customised for their owners, no two VI52 winders in the numbered edition of 52 units will be the same.

Before a block can become a VI52, it is thoroughly cleaned through several stages of oil and soot removal. The block is then modified to host six watches, with each winder offering up to three pre-programmed modes. Each mode can be fully customised when it comes to speed, acceleration and frequency as required by users. Each cushion remains locked in its cylinder for security during winder operation, with a key necessary to remove a timepiece. Winding programs use a USB tether for updates.
