Future Eroded Toy Cars
Hot Wheels x Daniel Arsham Collection

New York-based artist Daniel Arsham has taken a variety of everyday items and turned them into the subjects of his sculptures, rendering them in a monochromatic white and giving them the appearance of being excavated centuries from now. Following this theme of future decayed artefacts, Arsham has partnered with Mattel Creations to introduce a limited-edition series of Hot Wheels toy cars.

This collaborative collection comprises eight Hot Wheels toy cars reimagined by Arsham, featuring his signature “eroded” aesthetic. These cars will be released in pairs over four “laps” spanning two years. While the toy cars maintain the standard 1:64 scale typical of most Hot Wheels models, the bodies of these cars are constructed from Silkstone, a material used for the first time by both Arsham and Hot Wheels.

Launching on October 27th on the Mattel Creations website is Lap One, featuring a Porsche 930 Turbo in white and the Rodger Dodger, based on the 1973 Dodge Charger SE with a blown V8 engine, in light blue. The sculpted crystalline erosions on the car bodies undoubtedly enhance their visual appeal, and each toy car comes enclosed in a collector’s display case with a simulated concrete base.

An Eroded Rally Case, inspired by the 1968 Hot Wheels Rally Case and shaped like a wheel with a tire, is available as a package with the Eroded Porsche 930 Turbo. This eye-catching circular case features eight dedicated slots for the toy cars from the Hot Wheels x Arsham collection. Additionally, there are accessories such as posters, keychains, and stickers for those enthusiastic about acquiring everything from this collaboration.
