Agenhor Carpe Diem

Carpe Diem is a unique chronograph, to be more precise it is a clock with chronograph functions. It is not from any famous watch brand but the first product from high-end movement manufacturer Agenhor. Agenhor is the family watchmaking studio of renowned independent watchmaker Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, the master behind various well-regarded watches from Hermès, Harry Winston, MB&F, Van Cleef & Arpels and Fabergé.

Inside Carpe Diem lies the AgenGraphec mechanical chronograph movement. Five rotating discs display the chronograph’s time and the hours can be read through the sphere’s transparent section. The movement is Agenhor’s first in-house designed and manufactured chronograph and is composed of 488 components. Since Agenhor has only developed movements previously, the case was designed by second-year students in the Haute École d’Art et de Design Genève (HEAD). They created a plexiglas sphere in 84 mm diameter surrounding the movement that acts as a magnifying glass, so that the AgenGraphec movement appears about 1.6 times larger than its actual size for more legible time reading.

As one of the timepieces for the “Only Watch 2017” charity auction, held in November this year, Carpe Diem comes in a special aluminium protective case with “Agenhor – HEAD” and “Genève” written in the corner.
