Spider-Man x BMW M Hybrid V8 IMSA Race Car

BMW M Team WRT brought an unmistakable superhero theme to the IMSA Series endurance race at Road America last weekend, transforming one of its M Hybrid V8 race cars into a rolling celebration of the upcoming release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Driven by Sheldon van der Linde and Dries Vanthoor, the #24 car wore a bold red-and-blue Spider-Man-inspired livery, complete with web graphics stretching across the bodywork and the superhero’s mask integrated into the design. Both drivers completed the theme by wearing matching Spider-Man racing suits.

The pair looked set for a strong result. Van der Linde qualified third and moved into the lead after the opening pit stop cycle. Unfortunately, the race unravelled around the halfway mark. After losing positions during a restart, brake problems eventually forced the #24 car into retirement. The sister #25 BMW M Hybrid V8, driven by Marco Wittmann and Philipp Eng, also encountered trouble but managed to finish seventh.

The Spider-Man: Brand New Day collaboration extends beyond a single race weekend. BMW vehicles also appear in the film, including the new BMW iX3 and the BMW 5 Series Sedan, both of which are integrated into the storyline. A one-off BMW iX3 Flow featuring animated, full-colour E Ink Prism graphics has also been created for the project. Following its reveal in Los Angeles, the car will be displayed at BMW Welt in Munich from 10 August to 15 September 2026.

BMW owners can join the celebration too. Until 10 August, compatible vehicles in more than 70 countries can access a special Spider-Man animation via the central display, accompanied by music, ambient lighting and a full-screen visual sequence when the car is started.
