Born On The Nordschleife
Toyota GR GRMN Corolla

For Toyota Gazoo Racing, the Nürburgring has always been more than just a proving ground. It is where Akio Toyoda, better known as Morizo, developed the philosophy that continues to shape every GR model today. Now, that philosophy reaches its most focused expression yet in the form of the new Toyota GRMN Corolla.

Positioned as the ultimate evolution of the GR Corolla, the GRMN has been engineered with a singular objective: to deliver complete confidence at full attack on the Nürburgring. Developed through extensive testing on the Nordschleife, competition in Japan’s Super Taikyu endurance series and countless simulator sessions, the project reflects Morizo’s determination to create “a Corolla that captivates customers”.

A carbon-fibre bonnet, carbon-fibre front fenders, front side spoilers, and an adjustable rear wing all contribute to the GRMN Corolla’s purposeful appearance and improved aerodynamic stability. Lessons learned from Toyota’s hydrogen-powered Super Taikyu race car have been incorporated throughout, with every aerodynamic component refined through real-world testing at the Nürburgring. The rear wing alone features a five-position adjustment system, fine-tuned in one-degree increments during development.

Beneath the bonnet remains Toyota’s celebrated 1.6-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine, but engineers have increased torque to 415 Nm, up from 400 Nm in the standard GR Corolla. The focus has been placed on strengthening mid-range performance between 3,600 and 4,800 rpm, which improves acceleration out of corners. Supporting upgrades include an intercooler spray system, additional cooling hardware, and a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission.

Chassis development has been equally intensive. Exclusive monotube dampers, revised bump-stop settings, wider 245-section Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, and recalibrated GR-FOUR all-wheel-drive software have been optimised specifically for high-speed stability and precision. The GRMN also sheds 30 kg through extensive weight-reduction measures, including the removal of the rear seats, transforming it into a dedicated two-seater. Inside, bespoke bucket seats, carbon-fibre trim, flocked surfaces, and Morizo’s signature reinforce the car’s focused character.

Alongside the GRMN, Toyota also previewed the GR Corolla MORIZO RR concept. Unlike the stripped-back two-seat GRMN, the MORIZO RR retains five seats and pairs the GR Corolla platform with the company’s GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission.

Limited production is planned for the GRMN Corolla in Japan, North America and Australia, with deliveries expected to begin in 2027.
