Aston Martin Milano Rapide S Dom Pérignon
A dream car for champagne lovers.

One of my dream vacations currently involves touring the sunny Italian countryside with a fast car — preferably top down — and stopping along the way to enjoy copious amounts of fresh pasta and good wine. It’s the sort of leisurely holiday exemplified in the 2014 British movie The Trip to Italy, in which two men take a road (and gastronomic) trip through Liguria, Tuscany, Rome and Amalfi before ending up in Capri. I bring this up as this is exactly the kind of lifestyle I envision for the 2016 Aston Martin Milano Rapide S Dom Pérignon, which was made for promotional purposes only, but is a sort of fantastic dream car for those, like me, who love British grand tourers and good wine in equal measure.

In this case, the car was created to celebrate the partnership between the British marque and Dom Pérignon, and features a handmade removable cellar in the trunk which fits three bottles of 1998 Dom Pérignon champagne, two bottle openers and two crystal glasses. The one-of-a-kind automobile, quite appropriately, is currently on a summer road trip through Italy, and is scheduled to stop at specific restaurants and resorts along the way to show off its bespoke design. And, though the Rapid S mentioned here will not hit production, Aston Martin’s Milan dealership will actually begin offering the cellar as a special feature — the Dom Perignon Deuxieme Plénitude Special Kit — when the tour ends.
