A Special Edition Chair
"Series 7 chair" by Republic of Fritz Hansen x Lala Berlin

Launched over 60 years ago, the Series 7 chair designed by Danish furniture brand Fritz Hansen has appeared in numerous fashion magazines, films and television series and is seen as a masterpiece of the mid-century modern style. As the origin of the Drop Chair and Swan Chair, the simple yet vivid lines give the Series 7 an iconic status, and the chair is still a favourite among furniture brands and designers for reworking and paying tribute to.

Seen here are the “Series 7 chair in Lala Barberry”, “Series 7 chair” and “Dot stool in Lala Capsian” pieces under Republic of Fritz Hansen’s collaboration with fashion brand Lala Berlin to be launched at the end of this year. These limited pieces are transformed by Lala Berlin’s head designer Leyla Piedayesh, using dark shades and Dedar velvet upholstery but keeping the neutral and soft lines of the original. Among them, “Series 7 chair in Lala Barberry” is only upholstered on the front side, “Series 7 chair” is fully upholstered, while “Dot stool in Lala Capsian” takes on a complete different shape for a full transformation. Additionally, instead of featuring exposed metal chair legs, all three designs have powder coated legs in a colour matching the upholstery, giving a more complete and low key monochrome expression to the design.
