Ferrari announces FXX K Evoluzione

After months of speculation, as well as a few fleeting glimpses of a camouflaged test mule hitting Monza circuit back in September, Ferrari has officially unveiled the FXX K Evoluzione at this weekend’s massive Finali Mondiali event at Mugello Circuit, near Florence, Italy.

It doesn’t seem like the insane FXX K needs much improvement, but just like the FXX Evo and 599 XX Evo before it, the new car is a more advanced, faster evolution of the 1050hp track-only machine, available both as a limited-run model or an upgrade package to the existing FXX K. The new Evo retains the same power and torque figures, but instead gains speed through substantial weight loss and new, more aggressive and more advanced aero. This is most obvious in the rear, which has seen the addition of a fixed double wing, to replace the somewhat controversial winglets of the FXX K. The new aero package is the result of a full year of testing, both on the track and in the wind tunnel, and sees a 23 percent increase over the FXX K, and a 75 percent increase over the LaFerrari road car. This puts it at a similar down force level to current Ferrari GT3 and GTE racers.

Like all previous XX cars, the new model will only be used within the XX racing program, and will not see competition in any other championships.

It’s works of art like the FXX K Evoluzione that makes one wonder just how much further manufacturers, and especially Ferrari, can push their most technologically-advanced products. We can’t wait to find out.
