A Rare Chance To Own Film Props
Robots, Wizards, Heroes & Aliens: Contemporary Hollywood Auction

For many devoted film buffs, anything associated with their favourite movies holds immense value as collectable memorabilia. Julien’s Auctions, based in California, has partnered with the Turner Classic Movies (TCM) network to organize a contemporary Hollywood auction focused on “Robots, Wizards, Heroes, & Aliens” later this month.

Among the 1,000-plus lots, one of the rarest and most intriguing items is the original mechanical animatronic head of E.T. used in Steven Spielberg’s 1982 film, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Crafted by Carlo Rambaldi, the animatronic features a metal frame covered in foam latex for realistic facial movements controlled by a system of cables, allowing the prop to “act” in close-up scenes.

Another noteworthy item is the original “Mother” (MU/TH/UR 6000) computer console with seat, as seen in the first Alien film. Also up for auction are lightsabers used by Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn and Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Michael Keaton’s Batsuit from Batman Returns, and the original Marty McFly hoverboard prop used by Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future Part II.

For those less inclined toward sci-fi, Bruce Lee’s nunchaku from Fist of Fury and a vintage Hong Kong magazine signed by him, the stunt MP5 machine gun prop used by Bruce Willis in Die Hard, or the original Freddy Krueger bladed glove prop from A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master are popular choices.

The “Robots, Wizards, Heroes & Aliens: Contemporary Hollywood Auction” will occur in two sessions on December 14th and 15th in California. Bids can be placed online, and all registration and lot details are available on julienslive.com.
