Glowing On The Wrist
Bell & Ross BR-X5 Green Lum

The use of luminescent materials on watches began in the 1930s, primarily on military timepieces to enhance time reading in various conditions. While having luminous marks and hands on the dial is now a standard feature in many watches, Bell & Ross has elevated glow-in-the-dark functionality with the upcoming Br-X5 Green Lum—a model distinguished by its fully luminescent case.

What sets apart this limited edition Br-X5 is its multi-component case. The primary material used is a photoluminescent composite named LM3D, crafted from quartz fibres that emit a vibrant green glow. The 41 mm case is constructed using solid grade 2 microblasted black titanium with a DLC finish, housing the watch’s mechanical components. This titanium layer is skillfully sandwiched between LM3D layers and features a screw-down crown and crown guard in Grade 2 titanium.

Similar to the standard Br-X5, the Br-X5 Green Lum is equipped with the BR-CAL.323 calibre, a proprietary movement developed by Kenissi. This movement provides a power reserve of approximately 70 hours, and the watch boasts water resistance up to 100 meters. The skeletonised hour and minute hands, along with the markings, also illuminate in green, thanks to the Super-LumiNova coating. Adding to its distinctive appearance is the black openworked rubber strap.

Limited to just 500 pieces, the Bell & Ross Br-X5 Green Lum is currently available for pre-order, with deliveries scheduled for later this month.
