A Perfect Match
Steve Jobs' BMW Z8 convertible will be on sale at RM Sotheby’s auction

Steve Jobs’ BMW Z8 luxury convertible will be auctioned at RM Sotheby’s “NEW YORK – ICONS” event next month. The car is expected to fetch between $300,000 and $400,000, possibly more.

According to RM Sotheby’s, Jobs was convinced to buy the Z8 by his good friend, Larry Ellison, the iconoclastic CEO of Oracle. He enthused to Jobs that the car was a paragon of modern automotive engineering and ergonomics, and a perfect match for Steve’s products and psyche. His Z8 bearing a production date of April 1, 2000, was delivered to Jobs on October 6th in the same year. In 2003, Jobs sold the car to the Los Angeles-based current owner.

The Jobs Z8 was driven just 15,200 miles in its 17-year life, meaning it remains in excellent condition. The car comes with a plethora of essential accessories, including its proper hardtop and hardtop stand, car cover, owner’s and service manuals, service records, two keys, navigation CDs, and – most significantly, its original BMW-branded Motorola flip-phone.

The “New York – ICONS” event will be held on December 6.
