Glowing Culture
「Dekotora」(デコトラ) by Todd Antony

Among the recent works of London photographer Todd Antony is a series of photographs named “Decorated Truck” that reveal a very Japanese micro-lifestyle.

These photos reveal the unique Japanese culture of “Dekotora” (デコトラ) that arose from the 1975 Japanese movie《トラック野郎》(“Truck Guys”) in which the main character drove a gloriously decorated truck around Japan. Since then, drivers have decorated their trucks in flashy ways with neon lights and metallic paint, making both the exterior and interior of their truck as bold as they choose.
