Mitsubishi e-Evolution Concept Fully Unveiled

After a couple of teaser images surfaced on the internet recently, Mitsubishi has finally detailed its latest e-Evolution Concept design and its powertrain, which just debuted at the 45th Tokyo Motor Show.

The e-Evolution Concept is an all-wheel drive and all-electric crossover SUV featuring three electric motors, one for front wheels and two for the rear that aims to combine “the very best of Mitsubishi Motors technology with the go-anywhere flexibility of SUVs”. Further, the concept vehicle also employs Mitsubishi’s EVO-derived Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) which endows the crossover with sports car-like handling.

The essence of the e-Evolution Concept is its artificial intelligence system. With an array of sensors, the AI system continually collects data on traffic volume, road conditions and the driver’s intent. The AI system then customises the e-Evolution’s various onboard systems to the driver’s performance preferences for a more dynamic and safe driving experience. If that’s not enough, the AI system also evaluates the driver’s skill level and constructs a training programme to enhance the driver’s skills through both voice dialogue and the large dashboard display.

“We aim to provide vehicles that fulfill our customers’ desires through outstanding design, combined with the power, authenticity and carefully-considered functionality Mitsubishi Motors is known for,” says Tsunehiro Kunimoto, Mitsubishi’s Head of Global Design.
