Wet Rubber
Tecnorib Pirelli 1900

Leading tyre manufacturer and F1 racing supplier Pirelli has once again joined forces with rubber-boat maker Tecnorib to create a racy new boat called the Pirelli 1900, set to debut at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival.

Pirelli and Tecnorib have collaborated for more than a decade, creating three watercraft. The design of the new “1900” is now yacht-sized; an expanded version their “1400”, featuring a slender hull measuring 18.5 m (61 ft) long, by 5 m (16.4 ft) wide. As is the tradition with these Pirelli watercraft projects, each inflatable tube features a tyre tread pattern.

Design-wise, the 1900 exudes a sporty look, despite being the largest Pirelli boat ever built. It’s fitted with a carbon fibre roof, and twin 800 hp (597 kW) MAN engines with surface-piercing propellers delivering a top speed of 45 knots (83 km/h) in ideal conditions; recommended cruising speed is a more relaxed 30 knots (56 km/h). The captain controls the yacht with a joystick and automatic trim system, providing a smooth ride at any speed. There is ample room in the cabin too, with headroom peaking at two meters (6.56 ft) below deck. Guests can enjoy two cabins, two bathrooms and a central living area.

You can see more of the impressive Pirelli 1900 at the Cannes Yachting Festival, which kicks off on September 12.
