Underwater fantasies
Car paintings by Marcello Petisci

Keith Moon from The Who famously ‘parked’ a Rolls-Royce in a hotel swimming pool. Whether artist Marcello Petisci has taken inspiration from the British rock star or not is uncertain, but in his new series of paintings, numerous vintage automobiles are submerged in water.

Petisci was born in Brussels, Belgium. He studied at the C.A.D. College of Advertising & Design and the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in his hometown and his work has been exhibited all over Europe. Petisci’s style is realistic; sometimes it is even hyperrealistic. Most of the time he uses iconic cars as his subjects which he puts in real and imaginative situations.

So far Petisci has made a Ferrari GT 250, Fiat 500, Volkswagen Beetle and campervan and some other sports cars go swimming in his paintings. He manages to show great details of these beautiful cars with bubbles and waves around them distorting their appearances. More examples of Petisci paintings can be found on his online portfolio.
