Tongue Twisters: “Biker”

Recently, Mercedes-Benz released a series of advertisements titled “Tongue Twister”. It’s aim was to profile the dangerous situations you may encounter on the road and to help viewers understand the functionality of Mercedes’ Active Blind Spot Assist. The series has invited various of artists to collaborate, just like “Runner”, the art work of Brazilian artist Daniel Seamans. The latest collaboration “Biker” was created by Israeli artist, Noma Bar, who is the master of negative Space technique.

Noma Bar is no stranger to those who are fond of illustrations. His minimalist work has been featured in Time Out London, Wallpaper*, The Observer, The Economist and other media. To date, Bar has created more than 60 magazine covers and 550 illustrations.

In this latest work, “Biker”, once again Bar has made use of very simple shapes and symbols as a base, turning the shades of rider’s face into a motorcycle, then turning the brakes into a pair of arms, and then the tyres are transformed back into the eyes of the rider. The intertwining scenes are impressive enough to make you forget it is commercial advertisement of an automotive brand.
