A Most Pleasant Surprise
The all-new Ferrari Portofino

Ferrari has just announced its latest production model, the Ferrari Portofino, which is set to replace the current California T and will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.

Named after a picturesque and elegant coastal Italian village near Genoa, the Portofino’s chassis is brand new and weighs significantly less than the California T it replaces. With modern production technologies the redesigned chassis has an increase in torsional rigidity with decreased weight. Its weight distribution is 46:54 front to rear.

The entry-level folding hard top convertible is powered by a 591 hp development of the California T’s 3.9-litre turbocharged V8. The additional horsepower over the California T’s 560hp is thanks to new pistons and con-rods, a new intake system design and a new one-piece-cast exhaust header amount other tweaks. The Portofino completes the 0-100 km/h dash in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed exceeding 320 km/h. Ferrari’s latest E-Diff3 electronic rear differential and electronic steering system offers better grip and steering responsiveness without affecting the car’s stability.

The aggressively-styled convertible features a large open mouth up front, with subtle vents that provides cool air to the front brakes on the outside edge of the sharp LED headlights. The launch colour of the Ferrari Portofino, Rosso Portofino, is also brand new.

While it’s a great-looking machine with the top down, there’s no denying just how amazing and sleek the Portofino looks with its hardtop raised – we’re very much looking at getting our hands on this beautiful new Ferrari as soon as possible.
