Land Speed Challenger
BALL Roadmaster GMT

Danny Thompson, together with his vintage Challenger 2 racer, just set the new U.S. land speed record in a piston-driven vehicle at 435 mph on Bonneville Salt Flats this August.

Thompson’s passion for speed is clearly inherited from his late father, the great Mickey Thompson. The legendary driver took the Challenger 2 to the same Bonneville proving grounds back in the sixties and hit 406.6 mph, but it was not officially recorded. Now in his sixties, Danny Thompson has restored his father’s machine and has broken the land speed record not just once, but twice this year.

Inspired by Danny Thompson, BALL introduces the Roadmaster GMT, limited to 1,000 pieces. The newly designed round shaped case takes heed of the Challenger 2’s appearance. On the dial there is self-powered micro gas tubes in green, yellow, blue and white that can illuimate for 25 years. The automatic caliber Ball RR1201-C is a COSC certified chronometer. BALL’s patented Amortiser system is also added and the watch is anti-magnetic to 4,800A/m.
