The Cutest Formula 1
Supermini F1 cars imagined by Javier Oquendo

The word cute seldom goes hand in hand with Formula 1, but UK platform Carbuyer has commissioned car designer and illustrator Javier Oquendo to work on a fun theme: every Formula 1 team prepares their race car based on the smallest and cheapest production model.

The results are more interesting than we first assumed. While these cars are tiny and fun looking, maximising performance and achieving the fastest speed is still the purpose of this imaginary Formula 1 race, so aerodynamics parts such as front and rear wings, sidepods and special racing tyres can still be found on these cartoon-like race cars, as well as the relevant sponsor logos. Just take a look at these images of Ferrari’s Fiat 500, Red Bull’s Aston Martin Cygnet, Sauber’s Alfa Romeo MiTo, Toro Rosso’s Honda S660 and Mercedes-AMG’s Smart Car, can you imagine Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen lining up on the grid in these bad boys?
