The Changing Waves
Ocean photographs by Rachel Talibart

Photographer Rachel Talibart has been fascinated by ocean in all its forms since she was young. Growing up on the south coast of England, many of her images were created there, especially under stormy weather.

Recently, Talibart claimed the “Black+White Photographer of the Year 2018” award with a photo taken from her Sirens collection and named after the Greek goddess of the night Nyx; an image showing an angry wave shot at East Sussex, South East England. In an interview, she said, ”With the right image, I find that shooting black and white can powerfully enhance the emotion I’m trying to evoke and, being one step removed from reality, it can offer a fresh perspective.”

Talibart also shoots in colour. Perhaps because of her preferred subject, there is a sense of discretion in her photos no matter the tides. If you’d like to appreciate her work in detail, she will be taking part in a joint exhibition Vision 9 at gallery@oxo, London in April.
