Senna’s 1993 winning F1 car up for auction

The McLaren MP4/8A Formula 1 race car driven by Ayrton Senna in the 1993 Monaco Grand Prix is heading to Bonhams Monaco auction, on the 25th anniversary of its first visit, and is expected to be sold at for a record-breaking price.

The McLaren F1 car was powered by the Ford-supplied “HB” Cosworth V8 engine. In this particular chassis number #6, Senna won his sixth and last Manaco Grand Prix. In the same season this race car contested seven other Grands Prix in Spain, Canada, France, Britain, Germany, Belgium and Italy, before it was used as a spare car in the Japanese and Australian Grands Prix.

Bonhams claim the Formula 1 car is in “well-preserved, running-order”. The auction takes place at Monte Carlo on 11 May and the legendary race car can be viewed at Le Grand Palais in Paris on 6-8 February.
