Still Crazy (After 31 Years)
Nike Air Sock Racer Ultra Flyknit

Originally introduced in 1986, the Nike Air Sock Racer was specially designed for marathon runners with its streamlined and minimal design. While it was undoubtedly ahead of its time, the Air Sock Racer paved the way for Nike innovations that impacted sports beyond running. Its four-way stretch, elastic mesh upper, complete with two support straps, foreshadowed the development of Nike’s Flyknit, while it’s free-fitting design led to the creation of the Nike Free.

More than 30 years later, Nike fuses its innovative Flyknit construction to the classic Sock Racer design to create this striking new silhouette, the Nike Air Sock Racer Ultra Flyknit. The modernised silhouette now features a Flyknit upper providing enhanced fit and breathability, with a lightweight Ultra sole and Zoom Air heel cushioning to keep the ride comfortable, and allows the sole’s flexible grooves maintain a natural motion. The shoe retains the original buckle closures with new slightly thicker straps that provide medial and lateral support while also preventing the wearer from shifting weight too far forward.
