Ready For Dakar
Prodrive BRX T1 designed by Ian Cullum

The 2021 running of the Dakar Rally already has a potential winner with the full revelation of the BRX T1 Dakar Rally Car and its driver lineup. The Bahrain Raid Xtreme (BRX) team is a collaboration between the Kingdom of Bahrain and British motorsport expert Prodrive. Multiple WRC champions Sebastien Loeb and Nani Roma will sit behind the steering wheel, while the frenzied rally car was designed penned by ex-Jaguar chief designer Ian Callum.

Speaking on the design of the BRX T1, Callum said that the team “wanted to give the car a unique silhouette. A conscious shape suited to an extreme vehicle, rather than just functional form.” Indeed, when you look at the images of the BRX T1 without the livery, the car’s skilfully-styled lines look equally stunning with or without the huge rear wing.

The rally car is powered by a Ford 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6, generating 400 hp and 700 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed sequential transmission and power will be sent via front, centre and rear differentials to all four wheels. Dakar is one of the toughest rallies out there, so the car has to be extra solid and robust. It weighs 4,079 lbs, the chassis of the BRX T1 is made of high strength steel tubular structure, while the body is built with carbon fibre panels.

Dakar Rally 2021 will kick off on 3 January.
