Los Angeles-Based brand Brain Dead has teamed up with The North Face to present a capsule collection with nine pieces. The capsule references The North Face’s deep heritage and beginnings in California and is infused with Brain Dead’s signature disruptive style, playing around with graphic patterns and colour perspectives.
The collection brings an unexpected perspective to The North Face iconic pieces including the Denali, Nuptse and Mountain Jacket, as they are now adorned with handcrafted feeling psychedelic prints, graphics and details. Brain Dead uses the capsule to celebrate the counterculture and renaissance of creativity, focusing on the Californian hippy movement in the Bay Area in the 1960s and 1970s. As Brain Dead’s Kyle Ng explained, “With this collaboration, we wanted to reimagine the concept of ‘the expedition’ as a state of mind. Adventure through ideas.”
The North Face x Brain Dead collection, ranging from tees, jackets, pants, will first be sold at Dover Street Market in Los Angeles on 29 November, then on 6 December it will be available at thenorthface.com, select specialty dealers and select The North Face locations, including The North Face Urban Exploration stores in K11 and Hysan Place in Hong Kong.
