Makita portable coffee maker

Japanese tool brand Makita usually sticks to power drills, screwdrivers and sanders, but its latest offering is not just another tool – it’s a portable coffee maker.

What’s so good about the Makita CM501DZ coffee maker? It’s powered by the same lithium-ion battery packs as other electric tools, ranging from 10.8 Volts to 18 Volts. Each fully charged battery can brew 2.1 to 5.3 cups of coffee. The maker works with regular coffee grounds, dedicated pods in a few flavours are also available for a more convenient brew. At 1.5 kg net and comes with a sturdy handle, it can be easily carried around.

Makita is targeting workers at construction sites and electricians who already have a couple of Makita tools and battery packs on hand, but with the quirky appearance, the coffee maker would fit in well in any living or working space with an industrial style. Currently it is available only within Japan at 11,900 Yen. Battery and charger are sold separately.
