Powered By Both Wheels
Ethec electric motorcycle

Developed by a team of sixteen students from ETH Zurich and the Zurich University of the Arts studying mechanical engineering and industrial design, the slightly futuristic-looking Ethec electric motorcycle may not feature the best aerodynamic elements, but the up-to-400km range powered by a 15kWh lithium battery is worth paying attention t0.

Referencing the shape of the human body for the motorcycle’s exterior, it is however perhaps the mechanical elements of the Ethec that are the highlight. The bike integrates an extra front-wheel-hub motor, which is a first worldwide, offering a 2WD experience and recuperating braking energy for efficiency. The motor is supported by a thermoelectrical cooling system and consistently strives to  maintain a cooler temperature. The bike follows the trend of most electric motorcycles and is operated through a keyless system, starting up via a touch on the button, while navigation is controlled on the seven-inch touch screen.
