A. Lange & Söhne x Concours Virtual

Mechanical watches and vintage cars are both highly admired for their excellent craftsmanship and the level of dedication involved in their creation. Collectors often find themselves immersed in the two worlds at once, feeling equally as passionate when it comes to celebrating the sophisticated designs and mechanics of both.

German watchmaker A. Lange & Söhne has been supporting various vintage car competitions since 2012 such as the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy. With people being unable to attend large events right now, the latest partnership for the watchmaker is the Concours Virtual — a purely digital event allowing attendees to admire an incredible selection of stunning machines without even leaving home.

The online Concours d’Elegance will feature over 180 of the world’s most beautiful cars categorised into 17 special classes, ranging from steam wagons from 130 years ago to 1980s supercars. Rare gems such as Steve McQueen’s Land Rover, one of the most valuable Bugattis ever built and a selection of Formula 1 racers will also be participating. Each class will be judged by a panel of experts revealed at set dates, and a People’s Choice Award for each class can be voted for by the public.

So far some of the class winners include an 1893 Salvnsen Steam Wagonette, a 1932 Duesenberg Model J Torpedo Convertible Coupe, a 1955 Bentley R-Type Continental Fastback, a 1970 Lancia Stratos HF Zero and a 1973 Lamborghini Countach.

Check out the Concours Virtual before 9 August and vote for your favourite car in the remaining classes before the final winner is announced. The event will also be providing aid to Unicef’s pandemic appeal, with proceeds being used to help children affected by the COVID-19 crisis worldwide.
