New targa on the way
Mazda MX-5 RF

Mazda just launched the Mazda MX-5 RF at the New York International Auto Show and it wowed everyone. The “RF” in the name stands for “retractable fastback” and the MX-5 RF features the first automatically retractable hard top roof ever offered on a Mazda.

Unlike other retractable-roof models on the market, the construction of MX-5 RF version consists of a front roof frame, middle roof, and rear fastback section containing the back window glass. The mid-section is folded and concealed compactly when stored, taking up no additional trunk space. Not surprisingly, this new type of construction is now being referred to as Transformer-like. Indeed, with just a press of a button, the power roof can be opened or closed at speeds of up to 10 km/h. The fastback styling gives the MX-5 RF a beautifully smooth flowing roofline all the way to the trunk line, making it the most coupe-like model in Mazda’s line-up. We can’t wait to see the new RF in action on the streets.
