More than a fitness tracker
Fitbit Ionic

When mentioning the brand Fitbit, most would immediately think of watches for tracking your health and exercise performance. This is going to change with the launch of the Fitbit Ionic, its first full-blown smartwatch.

The Fitbit Ionic continues to be health-focused, but with a further personalised experience and new features. There is a new relative SpO2 sensor for estimating blood oxygen levels and it can potentially be used for tracking deeper health insights like sleep apnea. GPS tracking is available directly on the watch. Together with the improved heart rate feature, this all means new on-device dynamic workouts can now be tracked. The watch is also water resistant up to 50 metres and has a new swim exercise mode for tracking real-time laps and other data.

The Fitbit Ionic also offers features like other smart devices. For example, it has 2.5 GB storage for storing and playing over 300 songs or your playlists on Pandora. It can also make payments via Fitbit Pay. Its cross-platform compatibility allows syncing with iOS, Android and Windows platforms, with smart notifications for most social media apps and tools. A single charge offers more than four days of battery life for standard use or 10 hours with GPS support or music playing.

Available in three colour combinations, the Fitbit Iconic can now be pre-ordered and will hit stores worldwide starting from October. A special edition watch and training program created in collaboration with Adidas will be launched in 2018.
