São Paulo’s Minimalist
PAX.ARQ

This gray and white building located on a street corner of Sao Paulo, Brazil houses Tecnomec, an automotive work shop-slash-home designed by the PAX-ARQ team. The building’s rough concrete walls give it a minimalist and modern vibe.

The three-story Tecnomec building covers 260 square meters. The first floor houses an open shop used for car repair and modification, with an office space and a bathroom on the second floor. Two bedrooms and a large balcony fill the third floor. Even though the appearance of the building is rather simple, it has a lot of hidden secrets. For instance, the wooden staircase, which contrasts with the concrete exterior and brings the building a sense of homely warmth. Another would be the large concrete wall on the second floor that not only blocks noise, light, and construction pollutants from the outside but also provides the tenants with privacy.
