Masterpiece Revisited
Herman Miller Aeron Remastered Chair
When the Herman Miller Aeron Chair, designed by Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick, debuted in 1994, it was such a unique and innovative piece that it quickly became an icon; the go-to chair favoured by many offices. It was also the first piece selected by MoMA’s design curator Paola Antonelli for its permanent collection. While its unusual mechanical look makes a strong first impression, once a person experiences its comfort, it is the chair they covet.
Now 22 years later, designer Don Chadwick has reintroduced his revised Aeron Chair this month following two years spent reimaging its aesthetics and comfort.  At first glance, there isn’t much difference between the Herman Miller Aeron Remastered Chair and its predecessor. This resemblance is intentional as Chadwick was keen to retain the Aeon’s iconic appearance with minimal tweaks to materials and finishes while expanding its harmony with newer contemporary office environments and improving its functionality.
Across the seat and back, the newly refined 8Z Pellicle™ suspension system’s eight latitudinal zones of varying tension deliver increased comfort and pressure-free ergonomic support while allowing air, body heat and water vapour to pass through the seat and backrest to keep you cool and dry. The individually adjustable pads mimic a strong standing position that is beneficial during long hours seated. The additional environmental benefit of the chair’s increased use of sustainable and recyclable materials gives it a human touch.
The chair is available in three configurations for optimal ergonomics and three curated greyscale colours.
