Marina Bay
The 2015 Singapore Grand Prix

Luck of the day

Our award goes to the entire race field by way of 27-year old inebriated fan who scaled a fence and took a walk along the Esplanade Straight during the race, triggering the second safety car period. With Marina Bay’s many blind corners, he was a walking time bomb for the competitors. In the past, humans in the path of F1 cars have led to horrors. We were lucky on this one.

Driver of the day

Sebastian Vettel’s passing of the legendary Ayrton Senna for third place on the all-time winners list is a monumental accomplishment, especially for a driver who was thought to have perhaps lost his talents in the new hybrid turbo era. To have accomplished this feat in Singapore with nearly perfect practice, qualifying and race demonstrations of skill, pace and total commitment was a sublime answer to his critics, and a warning that there are still many, many more victories ahead for this young master.
