Making its First Public Moves
The Roborace “Robocar” Debuts at Paris ePrix

Remember the Roborace’s prototype “DevBot” that we covered back in March? The actual completed car, now dubbed “the Robocar”, finally debuted at the Paris ePrix on May 20; it’s the first time that the Robocar has hit a racetrack, if only at a snail’s pace in order to gather valuable data.

The Robocar is powered by four 300 kW motors and the battery is capable of delivering 724 hp, giving it a top speed of over 200 mph. Considering the car weighs 2,204lb, it makes for an impressive power to weight ratio. The Robocar uses five LiDAR sensors, two radar, and 18 ultrasonic sensors, along with two optical speed sensors, six cameras and GNSS positioning, all powered by an Nvidia DRIVE PX2 chip.

It is said that two completed Robocars will race each other at a Formula E event in July, after that a total of 20 examples will be rolled out to 10 different teams.

Keep an eye on Roborace’s Twitter to find out more about the test drive.
