REC Watches P-51 Collection

What would you do if your prized car suddenly found itself in a state beyond repair? Ford Mustang enthusiasts Christian Mygh and Jonathan Kamstrup, founders of Danish watch brand REC Watches, have answered that question in the P-51 collection.

REC Watches uses only salvaged Mustangs for its creations, along with the occasional donation of metal from pony owners. As founder Mygh explained, “Most people would just see a pile of metal, a ghost of a Mustang. We see something completely different – the soul of a car and a story that needs to be told. I’m not cutting up Mustangs. I’m bringing Mustangs that are beyond repair back to life as a watch.”

Each watch incorporates the unique VIN and year of production of the car it is derived from. The dial is cut directly from the body of a Mustang without refinishing, hence each piece is different. The Mustang’s design is also integrated into the watch. The power reserve subdial is designed to look like the fuel gauge of the classic car, and the hands and date function is inspired by the original Mustang Dashboard. Inside it features the Miyota cal. 9130 self-winding movement with over 48 hours of power reserve.
