The Sculpted Multi-Energy Future
Alfa Romeo Cuorerosso Concept

At the 2026 Paris Motor Show, a striking new design manifesto has emerged as a statement of intent for the brand’s next chapter. Dubbed Cuorerosso, “red heart”, the concept arrives after years of anticipation as enthusiasts wait while existing models’ age and electrification timelines shift. Rather than another crossover, it takes the form of a 2+2 coupé that reasserts the marque’s commitment to beauty, dynamism, and emotional design.

Centro Stile designers spent just two weeks on initial sketches before treating the car like a block of marble. The philosophy, called Bellezza Necessaria, or “Necessary Beauty,” involved modelling the entire form as a single solid mass and carefully carving away everything non-essential. The result is a low, 185-inch-long body with a distinctive Coda Tronca truncated tail, a Scudetto grille formed from backlit triangles that pulse like a heartbeat, and elegant gold telephone-dial wheels. Conventional door handles have disappeared entirely; instead, a discreet roof-mounted touch control opens the rear-hinged back doors in a graceful swan-wing motion.

The red heart still beats with combustion. The concept signals the start of a flexible multi-energy strategy spanning fully electric, plug-in hybrid, mild hybrid, and traditional hybrid powertrains. The range-topping vision pairs a 2.9-litre V6 with full hybrid assistance and all-wheel drive via a carbon-fibre propshaft. While official figures remain under wraps, the Ferrari-derived engine already produces 505 horsepower in current Quadrifoglio form, suggesting significant potential with electric assistance.

Inside, the cabin continues the theme of purposeful elegance. The classic twin-cowl instrument panel evolves into the “Cannocchiale Vivente,” a motorised cluster whose two pods physically merge into one as driving intensity increases. A steer-by-wire steering wheel retains tactile mechanical toggles with haptic feedback, resisting the industry’s shift toward touchscreens. Materials further elevate the experience: hand-shaded Poltrona Frau nubuck, tensioned monofilament fabric borrowed from Luna Rossa racing yachts, and a centre console that glows with a magma-inspired texture when activated.

Though strictly a concept and not destined for production, the Cuorerosso’s design language is expected to influence the brand’s next generation of models. With a drag coefficient of 0.28, air suspension, and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, it combines aesthetic purity with technical sophistication. For those who value the emotional core of Italian performance motoring, this Paris debut provides welcome reassurance that the future still has room for beauty and a beating heart.
