A distinctive new private aircraft has entered the market, shaped entirely under the creative direction of Japanese designer NIGO and offered through an innovative fractional ownership model. Developed by NOT A GARAGE, the project transforms a Gulfstream G500 into a one-of-a-kind aircraft that extends the designer’s aesthetic from streetwear and fashion into private aviation.
The exterior departs from traditional glossy white liveries in favour of a proposed matte finish, with renderings showing a deep olive green body contrasted by copper-toned lower surfaces and engine nacelles. Inside, the cabin carries the cohesive design language across three dedicated living areas, a fully equipped galley and a lavatory. Fourteen of the largest windows available in business aviation flood the space with natural light, while Gulfstream’s advanced systems deliver a low cabin altitude, 100 percent fresh air and an exceptionally quiet environment suited to work, dining, or rest.
Performance matches the long-range ambitions of the platform. The aircraft offers a maximum range of approximately 9,816 kilometres, sufficient for nonstop flights from Japan to destinations such as Los Angeles or Sydney, along with a top speed of around 980 km/h and a maximum cruising altitude of 15,545 metres. It’s expected to become the first Gulfstream G500 based in Japan, operating primarily from Narita International Airport.
Rather than selling the jet to a single owner, NOT A GARAGE is introducing shared ownership interests. The company and its aviation partners will handle all operational aspects, including maintenance under Gulfstream programmes, insurance, crew, and safety oversight. Owners will be able to book flights, manage preferences, and even gift travel through the NOT A HOTEL app. The ownership term is planned for eight years, with operations scheduled to begin in December 2027.
The experience extends well beyond the aircraft itself. Chauffeured transfers from central Tokyo, private terminal processing, and direct ramp access streamline ground procedures. Onboard catering, overseen by NOT A HOTEL chefs, can include customised menus, restaurant collaborations, Japanese cuisine, or celebratory touches. Everything is coordinated through a single digital platform.
Prospective owners can already join the waiting list via the official NOT A GARAGE website. The project marks a notable expansion of designer-led luxury into aviation, blending distinctive aesthetics, high performance, and a more accessible approach to private jet ownership.
