Lotus Elise Goes Off-Road

For the past 15 years, London-based automotive photographer George F. Williams has captured hypercars, restomods, and F1 machinery for brands including Bugatti, McLaren, Toyota, Mercedes, and many more. A lifelong fan of lightweight cars, his passion runs deep — from owning a custom Caterham 7 at a young age to his purple Lotus Exige, dubbed ‘Hell Slow’. His latest creation is Project Safari: a bold reimagining of the iconic Lotus Elise S1, built in collaboration with a group of automotive professionals and friends under the newly launched Get Lost brand.

The Elise S1 has been transformed into a capable off-road machine, featuring angular, attention-grabbing design elements — most notably, four oversized spotlights from Baja Designs. A bespoke roof scoop echoes the front grille and delivers a tuned, roaring soundtrack for a full sensory driving experience. The car’s original curves are broken up by rectangular Bi-LED projectors in the headlights, while a floating rear wing balances the rear-mounted spare tyre. Twin exhausts flanking the number plate add to the car’s aggressive aesthetic.

Custom suspension, a 100 mm ride height increase, hydraulic handbrake, Cerakote-coated underbody, and all-terrain tyres ensure it’s trail-ready. A new powertrain has been fitted for enhanced performance and reliability, though exact figures remain under wraps. Inside, bespoke seats trimmed in leather and tweed blend comfort, style, and support.

Get Lost is now accepting expressions of interest, with builds set to begin later this year.
