Ferrari 296 Challenge

Ferrari has just unveiled the 296 Challenge, marking the ninth iteration of the esteemed Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli single-make racing series vehicles. This cutting-edge race car is set to make its debut in the 2024 seasons of both the European and North American series and will be replacing the current Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo.

The 296 Challenge, designed exclusively for the racetrack, inherits its DNA from the 296 GTB production model. It uses a re-engineered power unit and aerodynamic enhancements that significantly enhance its performance, mirroring the specifications of the impressive 296 GT3. Starting under the hood, the 2,992 cc V6 twin-turbo engine found in the 296 GTB is coupled with a hybrid system. However, in the 296 Challenge, the electric motor is omitted, resulting in a power output of 690 hp and 740 Nm.

The 296 Challenge boasts a striking aerodynamic package that ensures optimal performance in various conditions. When the spoiler is set to its maximum angle of attack, this race car generates a staggering 870 kg of downforce at 250 km/h, surpassing all its predecessors in the series. Additionally, it’s equipped with the ABS EVO Track braking system, complete with CCM-R PLUS brake discs, and rides on specially developed Pirelli 19-inch race slicks, tailored for this very project.

The public will have its first chance to witness the Ferrari 296 Challenge in action during the Finali Mondiali event at the Mugello Circuit, taking place from the 24th to the 30th of October.
