Google Jacquard x Levi’s Trucker Jacket

Merging technology into every part of daily life seems to be one of the key missions of engineers. Developed by Google, the Jacquard technology makes use of the small Jacquard Tag to connect the designated object with the user’s smartphone. The Google team has once again worked with Levi’s to create a smart denim jacket, this time with improved functionality.

The Levi’s Trucker Jacket powered by Google Jacquard has the Jacquard Tag tucked into the left cuff of the jacket. Once the tag is paired with the phone, the wearer can access the phone without looking at it. The jacket’s left cuff has basically become a touchpad for performing key functions off the phone, so the wearer can answer calls, play music, take photos and more using self-defined touch gestures like swiping and tapping on the interactive cuff. The light on the Tag and vibrations in the cuff also provide alerts for incoming calls and texts.

The Levi’s Trucker Jacket with Jacquard Tag works with both iPhones and Android phones and comes in two styles – the classic denim jacket and a sherpa-lined version for winter. The jacket itself (minus the Tag) can be machine-washed like any usual Levi’s jackets, which just makes the whole thing more convenient.
