Heavenly Reunion
2016 Tour Auto Rally

Great things are always worth pondering over. Back in mid-April, the 2016 Tour Auto Rally was held in France, a reunion of more than 225 historic race cars to run on the most beautiful roads this side of heaven. Significantly, this 25th anniversary of the rally featured a reappearance of some of the cars which took part in the original event including a Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta, a Jaguar Mark II and a Ligier JS2.

The event started with a traditional exhibition at the Grand Palais in Paris, followed the next morning with competitors starting their journey from Paris to Chateau de Courances, and from there down to the Cote d’Azur, taking in the glory of Burgundy and the challenges of the great racing circuits of France. On the route, they visited Beaune, Lyon, Valance and Marseille as stopovers before finally reaching the finish at Cannes.

Sports Car Digest has produced a very detailed report of the event, and recently uploaded some splendid “behind the scenes” pictures, making us feel as though we were at the event ourselves.
