‘Furniture Pimp: The Collection of Jim Walrod’ auction

Wright will be holding the ‘Furniture Pimp: The Collection of Jim Walrod’ auction with 250 lots of personal treasures of the late design guru and interior design consultant Jim Walrod.

There was no other person who could take the name ‘Furniture Pimp’ (given by Mike D of the Beastie Boys because of his talent and knowledge) as suitable and well-deserved as Jim Walrod. His distinct eye and vision were appreciated by some of the most famous people from David Bowie to André Balasz, while hotels such as Gild Hall and Thompson LES were some of the commercial projects he worked on.

It was his loft at Chinatown, New York that expressed his vision most. Recognisable modern and postmodern art and design pieces, works by friends and random finds could be found alongside one another. Each item, regardless of its value, was selected and placed thoughtfully and cherished by the guru himself. The auction will be held on 3 May at Wright Chicago and the full lots are available to view and bid online.
