Audi Unveils the E-Tron FE04

After its long involvement in petroleum-and hybrid-based motorsport, German automotive manufacturer Audi has revealed its first all-electric race car, the E-Tron FE04. It is set to make its debut at the season-opening Hong Kong race on December 2, for its inaugural Formula E 2017/2018 season.

“After nearly 40 years of being successfully active in motorsport on the highest level, Audi now becomes the first German automobile manufacturer to compete in Formula E in order to test and advance the development of new technologies for production,” says Peter Mertens, Audi’s member of the Board of Management.

Sporting a new white, black and metallic green livery, Audi collaborated with Schaeffler to give the E-Tron FE04 an entirely new Audi-developed powertrain, paired with a single-speed gearbox.

The E-Tron FE04 will have 33-year old Lucas di Grassi, the current Formula E champion, and Daniel Abt at the wheel for the season, expertly guided by team principal and three-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, Allan McNish.
