Daymak, a Toronto-based company that develops and distributes personal light electric vehicles, has just launched the Daymak C5 Blast Go-Kart –claimed to be the fastest Kart in the world.

This 100% electric machine can reach 60mph in less than 1.5 seconds, which is much faster that the 3.9 seconds from the base model C5. The Daymak uses an interesting combination of one brushless DC motor and twelve Electric Ducted Fan (EDF) motors, making it both very powerful and very light. Although they admit that the technology is still at an early stage, the Daymak team plan to keep pushing the boundaries and one day soon have something that is less like a Go-Kart as we know it, and more like something you would see streaking across the desert in a Star Wars film.
