From The Sea To The Road
1970 Mercedes 250 CE by Vilner Garage

Most restoration projects are initiated by the love towards the specific vehicle, but this particular one is because of a sentimental story.

The 1970 Mercedes 250 CE, which the model evolved into the E-Class sedan years later, belonged to an entrepreneur from Saudi Arabia. He happened to have a classic Riva Aquarama boat that he highly treasured and kept in a climate-controlled warehouse. Yet in 1988 the boat went missing mysteriously and not until 2007 that it  was found in Cairo, completely destroyed. The owner designed to insert the remaining parts of the boat into the Mercedes and took it to Vilner Garage.

The ebony pieces from the boat was combined with walnut and pressed into veneer before it could  be used in the cabin. The overall design is classic, with blue leather blending well with the wood. The Becker Mexico stereo keeping with the retro style, while the speakers are protected by perforated Lexan shields that glow in cold blue. There are also LED stripes on the floor, doors and the car’s perforated Alcantara ceiling. It is fair to say that Vilner has done a great job in adding the boat’s spirit into the classic Mercedes.
