Aston Martin unveiled the new-generation Vanquish last September, and now the open-top version, the Vanquish Volante, is ready to hit the market — just in time to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Volante name, first introduced with the 1965 Short Chassis Volante.
The new Vanquish Volante features a lightweight K-fold soft-top mechanism that opens in just 14 seconds and closes in 16 seconds while traveling at speeds of up to 50 km/h. The fabric roof tucks neatly under the tonneau behind the seats without disrupting the car’s fluid lines. The muscular exterior from the Coupé remains, along with signature details such as the F1-inspired thermos louvres on the sloping bonnet. The vaned grille at the front and the floating Kamm tail at the rear contribute to the convertible’s assertive stance.
Powering the Vanquish Volante is Aston Martin’s new 5.2-litre V12 engine, producing 824 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, with a top speed matching the Coupé at 344 km/h. The open-top version weighs just 95 kg more than the Coupé, bringing the total to 1,869 kg. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, positioned within the rear axle.
Inside, the Vanquish Volante mirrors the Coupé’s layout, featuring a 10.25-inch digital instrument display and another screen for infotainment. The illuminated Stop/Start button, a 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, and luxurious finishes elevate the cabin’s sense of indulgence.
Aston Martin plans to produce 1,000 units of the Vanquish per year, with this quota shared across all variants, including the Vanquish Volante. The first deliveries are expected in Q3 this year.
