Everything but the Motor
dunhill "Duke" Large Zip Tote

Alfred Dunhill is the pioneer of modernization. Not only has he been able to inherit his father’s business, he also established the brand into a British classic.

In 1893, the 21-year-old Alfred Dunhill inherited his father’s saddlery and harness manufacturing factory and proceeded with reforms, transforming the initial business into an automobile accessory supplier. Not only did the business start to design holsters for cars, they also established a discount car company and a car mechanic recruitment agency; not to mention, they also published a car magazine entitled “Motor Mart”, fully infiltrating the market of automobiles.

With the company’s encouraging developments, Alfred Dunhill later worked with the motto “everything but the motor” and officially established Dunhill’s Motorities, which focused on the production of high quality leather and metal accessories as well as casual wear for male drivers, making itself the precedent in the industry. Founding not only a core value for the brand, it also laid foundation for future growth.

dunhill released the all new “Duke” leather series this season which was inspired by the design of traditional travel bags. Using intricately handmade and soft French tanned leather, the new design was also influenced by the brand’s own history. Including the headlights design Alfred Dunhill did for Roll Royce as a embossed padlock, the AD logo used on the bottom of the brand’s lighter is also implemented on the bag. Incorporating different classic elements designed by dunhill in the last century, this series continues to achieve the grand vision of Alfred Dunhill.
